These is the basic service we use in the
French Quarter Wedding Chapel.

To All:
Dear Family and Friends, out of affection for
(Bride) and (Groom) you have gathered together to witness their mutual vows, which will unite them in marriage.

To this moment, they bring the fullness of their hearts as a treasure to share with one another.

They bring their dreams, which will bind them together.

They bring that particular personality and spirit which is uniquely their own, out of which the reality of their life will grow.

We celebrate with them this union of hearts, a union created by friendship, respect and most of all love.

To Groom:
Will you _______________ take this woman to be your wife? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her as long as you both shall live?

To Bride:
Will you _______________ take this man to be your husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him as long as you both shall live?

To Father/Escort:
Who gives this woman to be married to this man?

To Both: <Pass or take bouquet>
Please join hands and face each other.

(Optional Poem / Reading)

To Groom:
(Groom) please repeat after me:

I (Groom) take you (Bride) to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do us part.

To Bride:
(Bride) Please repeat after me:
I
(Bride) take you (Groom) to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do us part.

Receive Rings and Recite:

Please continue to hold hands. May I have the rings please? The ring is an appropriate symbol because it has no beginning and no end. These rings are symbols of the eternal covenant of love, which you have made for each other. May your love be like these rings, remembering no beginning and seeing no end.

To Groom:
Do you
(Groom) offer this ring as a symbol of the never-ending love and respect that you will always have for (Bride)? Do you offer it as a symbol of your desire to become one: one love, one life and one family?

(Groom), please take this ring, place it on the third finger of (Bride's) left hand and repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed, and I pledge to you my everlasting devotion and love.

To Bride:
Do you,
(Bride) offer this ring as a symbol of the never-ending love and respect that you will always have for (Groom)? Do you offer it as a symbol of your desire to become one: one love, one life and one family?

(Bride), please take this ring, place it on the third finger of (Groom's) left hand and repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed, and I pledge to you my everlasting devotion and love.

(If you want to say something to each other this is the place we recommend that the reverend will hand the pre-written index card to the groom first (then hand back to rev.) and the bride will receive her index card to read from and then hand back.  Please make sure that you both talk it over so that the over knows and can prepare their words also!)

Please continue to hold hands and face each other.

(Optional Prayer)
Dear God, We thank you for this beautiful day and we thank you for Bride & Groom. We thank you for having brought them safely thus far on their life’s journey. We pray that as you join their hands and hearts to become husband and wife, that you will bless them and watch over them. We pray that you will give them strength and courage as they face all of the tasks and decisions that lie before them. We also ask that you bless these rings that they have exchanged, and may they ever abide in your peace, Living together in unity, love and happiness.
Amen

(Bride and/or Groom may repeat special commitments here if desired)

(Optional) Unity Candle Ceremony

Recite:
Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in lies but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects; always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. If you love someone, you will be loyal to them, you will always believe in them; and you will stand your ground in defense of them no matter what the cost.  Because love knows no limits to its endurance; no end to its trust. Love still stands when all else has fallen.

May you always share with each other the gifts of love. Be one in heart, and always beautiful of mind.

May you always create a home together that puts in your hearts: love, generosity, and kindness.

Now according to the authority vested in me by the State of Louisiana and the Parish of Orleans, but most of all by the power of your own love, I now pronounce you husband and wife. May you continue to love one another forever more. (Groom), you may now kiss your bride.

(Optional Presentation)
To Bride and Groom
Please turn around and face everyone.

To All:
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure and honor that I now present Mr. and Mrs. _First_ _Last_; Husband and Wife.
